Sadman Rahman

Research Fellow

Sadman Rahman brings a wide range of experience in governance, economic policy, digitalization, and, more recently, artificial intelligence policymaking. He has a distinguished track record of working with the United Nations and governments across the United States, Bangladesh, and Somalia.

Currently, Sadman also maintains his role as an International Expert on UNDP’s Crisis Bureau Roster and is designing a national economic development project for the Government of Somalia. During his recent involvement with the Centre for AI and Digital Policy, a think-tank in Washington, DC, Sadman contributed to the AI and Democratic Values Index report, a comprehensive review of AI policies and practices worldwide, comprising more than 80 countries. Before this, Sadman worked as a Policy Expert for a2i, UNDP Bangladesh, where he designed a national-level project to deploy Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in the Bangladesh government. His policy work spans multiple prestigious organizations, including Oxford Policy Management, UN Women, and The Wilson Center in Washington, DC, where he provided research support on high-level geopolitical discussions with NATO, The World Bank, and the US State Department.

During his role as Policy Associate for the Governance portfolio with UNDP Bangladesh, Sadman designed a tech-driven anticorruption project that was highlighted at the International Anticorruption Conference 2022. He also led the establishment of the first of its kind research unit at the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) under the Prime Minister’s Office as part of an economic policy reform project. Sadman also worked as an Evaluation Specialist for the Minnesota Department of Education, where he evaluated federally funded nutrition programs in US public schools.

Mr. Rahman holds a Master of Arts in Applied Diplomacy from DePaul University, Chicago (awarded a full scholarship for excellence), and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Minnesota’s prestigious Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. During his non-professional hours, Sadman is an accomplished guitarist, singer, and songwriter.
