International RTI Week-2015 celebrated across Dhaka
This year’s installment of acknowledging the Right to Information Act was held under the theme, ‘With information exchange, we shall participate in building the nation’. The Information Commission held a half day programme on this occasion. A festive procession that began at the National Press Club ended at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Dnet was among the 14 institutions that took part in this procession which was led by the Information Commission.
Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu spoke at a discussion session at the National Art Gallery auditorium after a cultural programme. The minister said, “This law would shed light upon the darkest corners of the Government’s Internal Affairs. But we have not been able to adapt to this law or adopt it fully.” He also commended those working closely with the government to spread the use of this law, among which Dnet is one of the organisations.
The acting Chief Information Commissioner Nepal Chandra Sarker, Information Commissioner Professor Dr Khurshida Begum Syeed, Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed, Cabinet Secretary (coordination and reform) Md Nazrul Islam, Professor Sadeka Halim and President of the Right to Information Forum Shaheen Anam were present at the ceremony.
The Information Commission also held a fair at the same venue.
